Oct 2008 - Log.Sec's Software Development & Maintenance Department Achieves CMMI Level 2

Log.Sec Information Technology Group's Software Development and Maintenance department at Edgewood, Maryland received the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model - Integrated (CMMI) Level 2 rating on October 24, 2008.

The SEI is part of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA and rates companies around the world on how mature their software development capabilities are. The CMMI is used to rate the software development maturity process from Level 2 (Managed) to Level 5 (Optimized).

The projects that were appraised included software development and maintenance efforts being conducted for several Log.Sec customers. The appraisal shows that Log.Sec manages its software development projects by planning, identifying risks, managing requirements, conducting quality audits, and managing software configurations. In addition, it also shows that Log.Sec monitors its projects and measures progress through a set of identifiable objectives. This translates into more efficient software development for our customers who benefit from a finely tuned development team.
